About this product
The element shows on your Joomla website whether a TikTok account is live right now. You place it wherever you want in the YOOtheme Pro builder, enter the username and set the text for live and for offline. The output is a linked status indicator based on UIkit 3. The plugin runs on Joomla 5 and Joomla 6 with YOOtheme Pro 4.x or 5.x and is free.
How the status is determined
The check runs on your server: Joomla fetches the account's live page from TikTok and reads the status from the embedded page JSON. If the status cannot be read with certainty, the account counts as offline instead of being wrongly reported as live. The result is stored per account in the Joomla cache, and you set how long it is kept in the Check interval field, 10 minutes by default. So the indicator is not a live ticker, but the result of the last check, fixed when the page is delivered. No JavaScript runs in the frontend for this.
Privacy: the check never leaves your server
Your visitors' browsers never connect to TikTok at any point: no script, no pixel, no cookie, no transfer of the visitor's IP address. The only connection comes from your server. Only someone who clicks the indicator ends up on tiktok.com in a new tab. This link carries rel="noopener noreferrer" by default, so your site is not passed on as the referrer.
Display in the YOOtheme Pro builder
For the look, there are 14 fixed UIkit 3 styles: four label, six button and four background variants. On top of that comes Auto mode, which colors the indicator green when live and red when offline. Three sizes apply to the button styles, and one option stretches the indicator to full width. A checkbox decides whether the element appears at all when offline: by default it disappears as long as the account is not streaming. Username, live text, offline text, link title and ARIA label can be bound to Joomla content via Dynamic Content.
Accessibility and security
The status appears as text in the markup, such as LIVE NOW or Currently offline, and is not conveyed by color alone. That is exactly what WCAG 2.1 AA requires in success criterion 1.4.1. The TikTok icon is removed from the reading order with aria-hidden, and the link's aria-label states the account, the status and that it opens in a new tab. The focus outline is 2 pixels thick. Output texts and the target URL are escaped, and the username is first validated against a fixed character pattern.
